The basilica is the landmark and heart of Rankweil. The church on the Liebfrauenberg, at an altitude of 50 m, is a fortified church – a special form of early Christian places of worship in Rhaetia built on a height making it hard to reach. Along with the artist Matt Mullican, the cukrowicz.nachbaur firm of architects have extended the space of the Landesgedächtniskapelle. An oblique ray of light falls onto the glass cabinet which houses mementos. The chapel has become a unique monument.
